How Much Toilet Paper Should You Really Use? We’ve Got Ya Covered with Our Handy Guide!
Let’s get real—we ALL go to the bathroom.
I’m also going to assume that around 50% of you reading this have googled something in regards to toilet paper recently. Butt, have you ever wondered exactly how much toilet paper to use, especially in dire times like these? One square for kids and two squares for adults per trip? Or per day? 🤷🏼♀️
Don’t stress. We’re here to help.
According to this toilet paper image above that’s been floating around the web recently, it jokes that one square per day should be the standard allotment during a quarantine. 😬
But it obviously doesn’t take into account kids being home from school for weeks and spouses working from home. Who could possibly survive using just one square per day? 😂
Instead, here at Hip2Save, we’re recommending the following daily usage guideline:
💩 Weekdays:
-
- Kids – 2 squares if going #1; 3 squares if going #2
- Adults – 3 squares if going #1; 3 squares if going #2
💩 Weekends:
-
- Kids – 3 squares if going #1; 4 squares if going #2
- Adults – 4 squares if going #1; 5 squares if going #2
*Note this is meant to be a funny guideline and may not apply to everyone. To each their own with their toilet paper usage! 🤣
But really, how much toilet paper do you need? 🧻
If your family members use the average 20% of a roll per day, you can easily calculate how much toilet paper your family will need over the next day, weeks, or months at ToiletPaperCalculator.com.
Simply adjust the settings for your family dynamics and the percentage of toilet paper that you think your family uses. However, if you feel that your family uses more than 20% of a roll per person per day, you can easily change that number accordingly to see how much toilet paper your family needs.
So if your family of four uses the average 20% each, that means you will only need around 12 regular rolls to last approximately two weeks or 24 rolls to last around four weeks. So a single trip to Costco should have you covered (and your family’s behind!) for an entire month…or more. Wow!
Another option? You can also visit HowMuchToiletPaper.com to calculate how much toilet paper your household will need to survive the pandemic. This information is based on how many rolls you currently have and how many trips each person in your household makes to the bathroom every day.
Wondering where to buy toilet paper?
While the demand is high and supplies are limited, here are a few online places that you may be able to find toilet paper – without having to leave your house. However, note that due to the increased demand for toilet paper right now, these items will likely sell out or change prices quickly.
- Costco
- eBay
- Amazon (check third party sellers)
- Sam’s Club
- Staples (may only be available for in-store pickup)
- Office Depot/OfficeMax (may only be available for in-store pickup)

Wow that’s hardcore. LOL. Happy April fool’s day
Hehe! Happy April Fool’s Day to you too!
Your lucky to have some to I had to get up at the crack of dawn to score some at Target I had been searching for 3 weeks Love you guys pic Ha ha…
I checked my CVS on line (east TX) they had some listed store only – and I did – it was on sale for under 10 bucks – saved me a trip looking for it
Hubby and I had this hilarious discussion. Thankfully we are empty nesters and we can get by with little at our house. Try Dollar General. I am hearing everywhere that they most often have it in stock.
I was so wondering if H2S was gonna do a TP something today! It’s a serious issue apparently regarding usage. This whole TP crisis is nutty. First time I’ve ever seen commercials both by Angel Soft (saying that they are working 24/7) and Cottonelle (saying something like be kind and share a square).
LOL…..
😀
This is going to be fun discussion around the game table to tonight😂
Haha definitely! Playing Craps? 🤣
We actually heard something on the news the other day that said a couple need 9 double rolls for two weeks. It sounded like a lot to us. We are all stocked up. True to my Hip2Save nature- we like Northern and it is rarely on sale here. Plus the coupons are usually only $1.00 off 2 giant packs. Well in January there was a great sale at our supermarket chain ( Shoprite), I had $1.50 off one pack. We had 6 coupons and stocked up. We shared with my sister and a neighbor. It is hidden in every closet! LOL!
Wow that’s great you were able to score that deal!
The if I was a bird shirt is hilarious
😂
Thanks to Hip2Save and the target deals that came around in the past I had over 40 rolls before this started. Thanks Hip2save!!
You’re so welcome!
Derby looks like he is grooving out!
I love that you guys accounted for weekend usage!! Haaaa!!
Thanks Stacie! We were on a roll… and just went with it! 🤣
This is awesome. We go through it so fast at work (luckily now most people are working from home) and I was like ARE PEOPLE TAKING IT HOME OR WHAT? They were not, but man some people just use too much!
lol, since I go every hour that would never work
Tractor Trailer full of TP caught fire on I20 in TX last night – no April full
You’re on a roll!
I love the photo with the toilet paper with the day’s written on it. I’m tempted to do that in my college daughters bathroom….
That would be funny!
This cracked me up. Who would’ve thought 2 months ago that we would believe we would honestly be considering visiting a toilet paper calculator website?! Lol In fun news, I just bought a bidet!
We signed my mom up for the Charmin mega roll delivery for safety and they kept the delivery going the entire time. We have cloths for #1 and only use TP, liquid baby wash #2. We used to have an add-on bidet sprayer. Easy environmentally kind change of habit that I miss.
Love the bird shirt. 🤣
